Airlines don't get it!

The airlines just don’t get it do they? First they can’t make money “because their business model didn’t anticipate the high cost of fuel” and now they are taking away the last bit of service by charging for peanuts and soda. How could the airlines not anticipate that fuel would go up? What the hell are all these high priced executives doing in the office surfing the Web?

I don’t like to fly anymore and why should I? You are treated like cattle and harassed at the security line then you wait at the gate until the cattle call to board and then everyone is out for themselves to ensure they get on so they can hide their baggage. Forget getting meals anymore if you sit in coach and now they want to charge us for a small bag of peanuts????

Well here’s news to the airlines: we would be willing to pay more if you treated us like valuable customers instead of cattle. One airline, Continental, is still treating their coach passengers like people and for that they will get my business whenever I fly from now on. However airlines like US Air and United can kiss my butt as I will avoid them whenever I have to travel.

Then there are the high fuel costs. I believe that enough of us saw that the price of $2.00 gas was only going to be short-lived. Why in the hell do you thing smart auto makers were planning to introduce new cars like the Smart Car? The dumb ones, like Ford, thought that they could keep selling Ford Expeditions forever. Meanwhile Chrysler is offering $2.00 gas to customers who purchase one of their vehicles for 36 months. The problem with that is that after the 3 years people are either going to turn in their vehicles or go into shock when it costs $100+ to fill their tanks.

Now back to the airlines for a moment. I believe that people would be willing to pay more for a better class of service. No I am not talking about $1,000 first class tickets I am talking about making the experience of flying fun again. I’m talking about appreciating our business by treating us like people and offering us decent food that doesn’t make McDonalds look like gourmet food. I am talking about having enough room to relax and go to sleep and restroom onboard that work and don’t smell like a sewer. Would you pay extra for that? I sure would !

Do we really need a two airlines flying every hour to Boston and Chicago from New York? Do we really need so many flights to so many places ? Travel is going to change and for the better or American airlines will become a thing of the past..and good riddance to them !!
