When I was growing
up my dad used to tell me that to treasure the
“moments” as they are the best part of life. Like all
kids of course I used to shrug and could not wait to
get out of school and into my own life away from home
but now that I am in my 50’s I realize that my dad
was right and those times are indeed special and
occupy a special place within my heart.

Do the
right thing ! It sounds so easy but why is it so hard
for people to do today? It comes down to a lot of
things, mostly fear. Fear of losing your job, fear of
being singled out and the fear that we “won’t fit
in”. If more people just did the right thing there
would be a hell of a lot less trouble in this
world. Read

How many
drivers need to use cell phones and how many people
are that important that they need to check their
Blackberry's every 5 minutes? Enough is enough ! I
mean I see drivers just going along and you can tell
that they are just "gabbing" on their cells. In
meetings people are always checking their
Blackberry's every 5 minutes because God forbid they
should miss an eMail. The truth is that all these
devices invade our personal lives and when we leave
the office they should be shut off and put in the
drawer. Read

There comes a time
when we all have to make a choice between which path
to take in our careers. Do we do what the company
wants us to do to keep people happy or do we push
back when we feel that our customers, and patients,
come first? I made my choice and I am not sure where
the path leads but the further I go down this path
the more I will learn about myself, others, and what
people respect in today’s workplace.

What do these
stories have in common?
-A woman who says she lost more $1 million gambling
in Atlantic City sues some casinos for $20 million,
claiming they should've stopped her compulsive
gambling.
-People who bought houses they
couldn't afford with loans they didn't understand
want their lenders to change the terms.
-Congress authorizes a war and then tries everything
it can think of to get out of it.
-Our country gets addicted to oil
and then blames OPEC when it doesn't like the price.
These stories prove how personal responsibility has
all but vanished in America, and our government is
leading the way. Read

layoffs coming from CitiBank thanks to the continued
fallout from the subprime housing market collapse. So
people down the ladder are laid off while the
executives who got their companies into this mess
continue to leave companies with golden parachutes
that ensures they will never have to work for the
rest of their lives. This is a load of garbage and
simply put people need to be held accountable for bad
decisions. Read

Watching old Christmas
movies on TV one is reminded that the holidays, above
all, are for families. It's a shame that in today'
world families are often far apart because of work
and it's even more a shame when people don't have the
time to celebrate special days with their
family. Read

more than 85% of new years resolutions will not make
it into the spring..DUH ! What really has me
scratching my head though is why people make these
silly promises this one time of the year when we
should be doing it all year? Read
