A client recently shipped me a Dell computer in order to access their internal servers (I use a Mac). If you can believe it 2009 is almost history and we're getting ready to bring in 2010. The recent news on the jobs front is encouraging but marketers would be wise not to believe that consumers are going to go back to their free spending ways in the coming years.

Recession behavior change: Consumers are trying less expensive brands and like them

According to the McKinsey Quarterly "Companies waiting for a return to normality following the recession may be disappointed. Their customers have tried cheaper products—and actually like them." Does this mean more problems for brand marketers? No it does not but it also is a clear indication that branding attributes are changing and are being defined by consumers, not marketers.
