I am the enpowered consumer

I am the empowered consumer and I could be a brands worst enemy or best friend. With all the money that is going to bailout corporate America I am more skeptical now of any advertising message. I used to have a some equity in my home and have a great secure job but that's changed and from now on I am not going to be buying things that I don't need and when I do I am going to go online to see what others have to say about your product and brand. Even if you have a great product I may decide that you won't get my business if you're a company that is not socially and economically responsible.

If you want me to consider your product or brand you had better listen to me and tell me why I should trust you.

You're not going to get a chance to make a second impression and if you let me down

If you let me down I will go online and tell everyone I know about it.

I use social media to stay in contact with friends and to network.

When I am considering a major purchase or a purchase that requires me to alter my behavior I am going to go online to see what others have to say.

As I hear more and more about my tax dollars being used to help companies recover from bad business decisions I am going to get more and more angrier and reach out to others to both vent end empower myself.

I don't care about your brand anymore, it doesn't mean anything to me and my loyalty to your company is on a day to day basis.

I go online more and more to get my news, check eMail and learn about things like health and finances.

I may hear about new things on TV but I go online to learn more about them.

I am reading less newspapers today because I just don't have the time anymore.

If you want to establish a relationship with me tell what's in it for me and don't expect me to give me your full attention until you earn my trust.

The more bad news there is in the media the more I am going to cut back on spending and I now realize that I have to start saving more money because things I used to count on for my nest egg, home equity, 401K, may not be a sure thing as I once thought they were. Luxury is out, frugality is in. Hey? Are you listening?
