Rich's Rules of the New Economy

Never before have we seen such a fundamental change in marketing. The recession of 2009 is going to change forever, I believe, the way consumers shop and consume products. In the new economy less is more and most advertising falls of deaf ears but marketers continue to use old mass marketing methods that are not relevant.

Why do you think social media is so popular with the media and marketers? It's not because that's where the eyes are but rather it's because the voice of the individual can influence others via an online platform. There are many brands using social media pages that have a lot of followers yet these same brands are still in trouble. Why? Because they don't get it and are trying to fit old marketing into new media.
Here are some of my
rules for the new economy. I will be updating them on a regular basis and if you have any others please let me know. It's a new world awaiting marketers and those that have the vision will seize the moment and ensure the success of their companies.
